A never-ending argument seems to go on among building industry professionals. Which is better for windows - wood,
PVC, aluminum? Cutting edge solutions by ALURON Sp. z o.o. and HALUPCZOK now provide an innovative alternative. The GEMINI
System for manufacturing wooden and aluminum windows.
Scope of use
The GEMINI System comprises a wide variety of aluminum profiles and specially designed clasp locks, corners, stiffeners and seals.
Modern construction and technological solutions
The windows manufactured according to the design of ALURON Sp. z o.o. and HALUPCZOK consist of two independent but strongly connected and robust frames between which a power-efficient double pane is placed:
- external aluminum frame guarantees durability,
- wooden external frame adds a natural, cozy look and is ecologically esthetic.
Esthetics, versatility, usefulness, ergonomics
The benefits of the GEMINI System will be most appealing to architects, who choose this system more
and more often to be used in the newly designed, "green" buildings. Regardless of the power efficiency and technical
excellence of the GEMINI System, the powder painted aluminum surfaces allow to select several hundred colors and shades
using the complete RAL color palette. It is also possible to apply wood imitation veneer on the profiles. Various types
of finish allow creative designers to be the authors of environmentally friendly architecture.
Innovations
The concept to protect the surface of a wooden window with metal sheet or aluminum profiles has been present
in Poland for several years now. These products have been originally created in Western Europe as refurbishing systems
to extend the life of system installed previously.
- The innovative design of GEMINI System windows is based on a concept of rigid combination of two independent frames made of wood and aluminum.
- ˇ Thanks to the significantly thicker walls, elaborate chamber structure and rigid metal corners, GEMINI System profiles make for a much
stiffer structure. The well designed elements facilitate installation and guarantee the structure is mechanically
stable and rigid.
- Certified technological confidence
All components of the system have been examined by the Central Research and Development Center of the Building Equipment Industry
"Metalplast" Poznań and have been awarded a Technical Approval. The finished products, GEMINI System windows, have been
examined in the Building Research Institute and have also successfully passed the test.
Power efficiency, economy and durability
The air pocket between the wooden and aluminum frames makes for an excellent insulation. This is why the GEMINI System improves
the heat coefficient and sound insulation characteristics as compared against standard wooden windows. The total thickness of
the window frame is a stunning 90 mm. This plays a major role in reducing energy losses and helps protect the natural
environment. Customers purchasing GEMINI System windows are spared the hassle of repeated, costly and troublesome renewal
of surfaces of wooden windows. These advantages, coupled with longevity several times higher than in the case of PVC and wooden
products (over 50 years), make GEMINI windows exceptionally cost-effective - even without taking into consideration their
technical excellence, elegance and reliability.
Esthetics
GEMINI System windows feature "soft-line" design, making them friendly, yet trendy and up-to-date products
appealing to consumers. These days customers pay a lot of attention to shapes and colors of the architecture, and the
virtually limitless color palette that can be applied to GEMINI windows make them very attractive.
New products on the market
Market research conducted during the design stage show that at present the market demands products
that are technically reliable, durable and esthetically refined.

The detailed results of examination of heat transfer coefficient and the sound characteristics are especially worth reading.
These values prove to be much better that in the case of single-frame wooden windows.
Example:
The heat transfer coefficient of 1.5 W/(m2*K) is obtained for the place where the glass pane, the sash
and the frame meat in a single-frame pinewood window. In the bottom part of the frame this coefficient is as high as app.
1.9 W/(m2*K) - with the use of a thermal drip cap. GEMINI System window boasts an excellent 1.38 W/(m2*K) along the entire
contact between the glass pane, the sash and the frame.
Awards
The GEMINI System was first presented in Europe on BUDMA 2005 construction fair. The enthusiastic reception
from the industry professionals was confirmed by the decision of the Contest Tribunal awarding the golden medal of the
International Poznań Fair to ALURON Sp. z o.o. for "GEMINI System for the production of aluminum and wooden windows" and
an honorable mention to Halupczok by the Polish Chamber of Commerce and Building in the "New Product" contest taking place
during the Wrocław Tarbud 2005 fair, as well as the golden medal in the 26th Opole Building Fair "My Home" for "Unique
aluminum and wooden windows".
